FUTURE OF THE NEBRASKA BREEDERS
AND SILVER CLASSIC FUTURITY
The Nebraska Breeders program has enjoyed over twenty successful years. It has been in existence since 1986 and has paid out almost $600,000 in prize money. Due to changing times and trends we are discontinuing any further phases of stallion and mare nominations. It has become financially unfeasible for us to continue the program. We will continue to offer Breeders classes for yearlings, two year olds, and three year olds at the 2011 Silver Classic Futurity. We will follow through with the program until all existing phases of colts have reached maturity according to our Breeders rules. We will keep the door open to new programs in future years if it appears participation makes it feasible.
There are changes planned for the 2011 Silver Classic Futurity. More money will be added to the 2 yr. old and 3 yr. old snaffle bit classes. The Breeders will run concurrently with the Open divisions with Breeders purse money paid to the Breeders eligible horses. Purse money will be added to the Green pleasure, trail, western riding, and hunter under saddle. We will be adjusting the schedule to allow for more practice time and social events.
The Nebraska Quarter Horse Association would like to thank all the people who have participated in our Breeders program over the years. The stallion owners, mare owners, colt owners, exhibitors and all who have helped with the Silver Classic Futurity helped to make it a successful and positive experience for many people for many years.
